MACV Veteran Story: Jeremiah

“I have a stable job right now, and it feels great.” -Employed Air Force Veteran Jeremiah
Originally from Chicago, Jeremiah moved to Minnesota when he got out of the military for better employment opportunities. He has been in and out of homelessness for the past three years. Thanks to a connection through the Minneapolis VA, the one thing that remained consistent in his life during that time was MACV.
Jeremiah’s path toward rebuilding his life has been a testament to his resilience. “I’m investing my all into forging a new path for myself,” he states. His current employment opportunity wasn’t just a stroke of luck but a result of his determination. However, MACV played a pivotal role by equipping him with the necessary tools and supplies to sustain his job, an initiative made possible through the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program by the US Department of Labor. For Jeremiah, employment was merely the first step towards stability. Currently residing in a shelter, he diligently works with his MACV case manager to find a permanent home. Upon reflection about his progress so far, Jeremiah shared, “MACV has helped me out a lot, and I am happy this organization exists.”
To fellow Veterans navigating the challenges of finding employment and housing, Jeremiah strongly advises, “Overlooking the support MACV offers is a mistake.” His story is not just one of overcoming adversity but a powerful reminder of the impact of reaching out for help and the difference supportive organizations like MACV can make in the lives of Minnesota’s Veterans striving for stability.
