You Can Make a Difference

Get Involved with MACV and Start Creating Change

MACV volunteers are crucial to the success of our organization, our staff, and the Veterans we serve. Our regular volunteer opportunities range from one-time events/ projects to opportunities with longer commitments.

Check out the volunteer opportunities which best fit your interests below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Individual Opportunities

Click here to a take survey which will ask you questions about what kind of individual volunteering you would like to do, your skills and your availability. Once you have completed this survey, our volunteer coordinator will reach out to you.

Fostering a Pet for a Vet

Providing a temporary home for some furry friends while their Veterans find permanent housing. We need volunteers to foster MACV clients’ pets through Secondhand Hounds the Bond Between. Not only will you give these animals a loving home, but you’ll also bring peace of mind to their Veteran owners. And don’t worry about supplies – Secondhand Hounds the Bond Between has you covered! Take strides to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota! Click here to secure your Twin Cities In Motion Twin Cities Marathon or 10-mile spot on Team MACV! Joining our team commits you to fundraising for our mission. Don’t want to run? We are also assembling our cheer team!

Event Volunteer

From our Veteran resource fairs to golf tournaments to outreach booths, there are so many opportunities to help spread the word about MACV and make connections with Veterans looking to rebuild their lives.

Legal Clinic Volunteers

At legal clinics we typically need help completing intakes with a veteran who is looking for legal assistance. These legal clinics are currently on hold, but we hope they will start up again soon.

Around The Office

Sometimes we have office projects that we need assistance with. This volunteer position allows you to help us do clerical tasks that support our MACV staff. Areas of assistance might include compliance, finance, and human resources.

Group Opportunities

Click here to email our Volunteer Coordinator-Laura Jenson if you are interested in any of these group volunteer opportunities below or would like to learn more.

Move-in Kit Assemblers

This is a fantastic opportunity for organizations, companies, and large groups. With every kit you make, you directly support a Veteran and their family as they are exiting homelessness and starting a new chapter of their lives. Click here for the full list of items that could be included in the kit.

Holiday Gift Program

Our program offers you the unique chance to choose the size of the family you wish to support. Whether it’s an individual Veteran or a family of five, your generosity will directly warm the hearts of those who have given so much.  Once an organization or group reaches out, MACV provides a brief written introduction to the family and their ‘wish lists’ for each member of the family. You would decide which items from their lists you would like to provide! Click here for the program flyer.

Event Volunteers

This is a great opportunity for organizations, companies, and large groups. We are seeking volunteer groups to help at our events. From our Veteran resource fairs to golf tournaments to outreach booths, there are so many opportunities to help spread the word about MACV and make connections with Veterans looking to rebuild their lives.

Property Projects

Every spring through late fall we need volunteers to assist us with big and small outdoor property projects! We will need assistance preparing the yards of our homes for winter and summer and maintaining outdoor spaces! Small projects can include landscaping, weeding, and general maintenance tasks. Larger projects can include fence/deck/rail building, painting/staining and power washing. If you have a group that is interested, we would love to have your help!
