MACV Veteran Story: Ricardo

Feature Story, Housing

“Life is all about changes and what you can do today to move on with your life.” -Housed National Guard Veteran Ricardo

Ricardo wanted to rebuild his life but kept facing barriers whenever he came out of treatment. Ricardo’s journey home began with previous programs and case managers that let him down. But everything changed when he connected with MACV.

“At MACV, I met the most helpful people I’ve ever worked with, and I’m really appreciative of the assistance.” -Ricardo

After being placed in a MACV transitional house, Ricardo worked closely with his dedicated case managers. Their description of him as “organized, resilient, and a pleasure to work with” speaks volumes about his determination to move forward and rebuild his life.

Six months later, Ricardo has his own apartment and a stable job opportunity. He even adopted a cat named Gato to add to his newfound happiness.

His apartment feels like home thanks to living room furniture from Bridging and his bed set from Wood-N-Hearts. Join us in celebrating Ricardo’s incredible journey towards rebuilding his life and finding a place to call his own.
