MACV Veteran Story: Mike

“Having resources through MACV made it easy for me to make life changes.” – Housed Navy Veteran and MACV Board Member Mike
When Mike found himself at a crossroads after making regrettable life choices, he knew he needed a fresh start. That’s when he connected with MACV, a lifeline for Veterans like him.
With MACV’s support, Mike found employment and a transitional home to get back on his feet. Thanks to their groundbreaking Landlord Engagement Program, he even secured permanent housing.
When life seemed to stabilize, the pandemic hit hard, and Mike lost his job. But he didn’t lose hope. Turning to MACV again, he received the assistance he needed to prevent homelessness. They helped him find a new job and took essential measures to ensure he remained housed.
Now happily married with four children and a homeowner in Minneapolis, Mike has come a long way. His incredible journey led him to be elected as a board member for MACV, something he considers a great honor.
“I’m proud to be on the board because I’m living proof of how MACV helps Veterans,” shares Mike.
Thrilled to join the MACV board during such a critical time, Mike sees progress in himself and the organization. From their humble beginnings to a new office, a larger team, and impacting more Veterans’ lives, MACV is making a more significant difference statewide than ever.
