MACV Housing: Harnessing Solar Power for a Sustainable Future
We are thrilled to announce that MACV has successfully implemented solar panels at our Powderhorn building. This significant step towards sustainability results from our ongoing commitment to optimize resource usage, reduce our carbon footprint, and ensure long-term sustainability while continuing to support Veterans and our community.
Our decision to go solar was inspired by comprehensive energy audits and a strong desire to contribute to environmental conservation. The solar panels harness the sun’s abundant energy, providing clean, renewable power to our affordable apartment building for Veterans. This initiative reduces our carbon footprint and promotes sustainability in our operations.
Moreover, using solar energy has resulted in a noticeable reduction in our electricity bills. These cost savings have enabled us to house more Veterans exiting homelessness, reinforcing our mission to provide comfort, security, and a home for Veterans who are rebuilding their lives.
Our sustainable initiatives, generously funded by an anonymous donor, have also fostered community engagement. We are proud to inspire others to join the movement towards a greener future and appreciate the support we’ve received from the community in these endeavors. We’re consistently reminded of the bright future solar energy promises for MACV, our Veterans, and the larger community.
We have completed a solar panel installation at one building so far, and we hope to continue on our journey of energy sustainability at our other properties statewide. Together, we can make a difference for our Veterans and our planet. If you want to learn more about our solar panel initiative or how you can support us, click here.
