Employment Chairman Luis Campero, left, awards MACV Medium Employer of the Year. He is with Kevin Beichler, center, and James McCloden. Bloomington Post 550 nominated MACV.

MACV is honored to be the recipient of the Medium Employer Award! Since receiving the award, we have expanded to 84 employees, of which 38% are Veterans. As we continue to grow and work to end Veteran homelessness in Minnesota, we are grateful for the recognition! To learn more about the Medium Employment Award ceremony, check out the article from the August edition of American Legionnaire below.

Luis Campero of Bloomington Post 550, chairman of the Employment Committee, handed out plaques to winners of Employment Awards. The first was the Medium Employer Award, which went to the St. Paul-based Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, better known as MACV. It has 67 employees, of which 33 are veterans. MACV Duluth’s Kevin Beichler said MACV helps veterans with housing, employment and legal affairs. Bloomington Post 550 nominated MACV for the honor.

The Small Employer Award went to Rock On Trucks, nominated by Waite Park Post 428. The company does hauling and truck repair, and its trucks have many themed paintjobs: Veterans Wall, Police, Fire, 101st Airborne, Purple Heart, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and so on. Kevin and Krystal Vierkant said they hire veterans whenever they can because they are reliable, trustworthy workers.
