Sharing Solutions: MACV Welcomes Ukrainian Delegation

MACV was honored to host a delegation from Ukraine to share our approach to ending Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. The visit created a meaningful exchange of ideas about housing, outreach, and the complex challenges that come with supporting Veterans experiencing homelessness.
During the visit, MACV’s Metro Regional Director Kurt Johnson, Chief Housing Officer Sara Riegle, and Chief Financial Officer Brian Peterson presented how our programs and partnerships create pathways to stability for Veterans across the state. They explained how MACV works in close collaboration with community partners, local governments, and the Minnesota Homeless Veteran Registry—a coordinated system that tracks and connects every identified homeless Veteran with housing and services.
This conversation opened space to share lessons learned from Minnesota’s collaborative model, discuss system-level coordination, and explore how similar partnerships could strengthen efforts abroad.
This visit, organized by the White Bear Lake Rotary Club, reminded us how powerful collaboration can be. We’re inspired by our Ukrainian colleagues’ commitment to supporting Veterans and displaced individuals, and grateful for the shared learning that strengthens our collective work toward safe, stable housing for every Veteran.
