Celebrating a Legacy: Announcing the Retirement of Neal Loidolt

The Board of Directors and the entire team at the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) are congratulating our President and CEO, Neal Loidolt, on the announcement of his upcoming retirement. Since joining MACV in February 2017, Neal has been the primary architect of our strategic vision, leading the organization through a period of significant growth and transforming MACV into the central leading force for ending Veteran homelessness in Minnesota.
Under Neal’s leadership, MACV’s impact evolved to extend far beyond direct service delivery, driving system improvements that now strengthen the statewide Veteran homelessness response network. MACV pioneered cross-sector partnerships linking housing, health care, justice, financial stability, legal support, and employment to ensure comprehensive responses tailored to Veterans’ needs. By aggressively pursuing housing development and opportunities, MACV expanded unit availability for those with significant barriers, dramatically increasing access to stable housing. Furthermore, MACV’s focus on innovative services has reduced returns to homelessness, keeping thousands of Veterans connected to long-term stability.
Neal’s passion for this mission is an extension of his 30-year military career, during which he retired from the Minnesota National Guard as Major General. His guidance ensured that MACV’s role as a statewide leader is matched by the depth of its impact on individual Veterans. He led MACV in integrating these diverse supports into a seamless system, ensuring that no Veteran falls through the cracks. As he prepares for retirement, Neal leaves a legacy of a vision-driven organization that not only serves Minnesota’s Veterans but also actively exports its best practices to help other regions replicate this “Minnesota Model” of empowerment and stewardship. We invite our partners and the community to join us in thanking Neal for his extraordinary leadership, his decades of service to our country, and his unwavering advocacy for his fellow Veterans.
