This week, we are featuring Alisa Mendez!
At MACV, staff across the state work every day to connect Veterans and their families with stable housing and the support needed to build long-term stability. Alisa is part of that work as a member of MACV’s Financial Stability team, where she connects Veterans to Representative Payee services to help Veterans navigate financial challenges.
In her role, Alisa works one-on-one with Veterans to connect them to a Rep Payee and answer questions about budgeting, reading bank statements, collections, and overdue bills. Through ongoing support, she helps Veterans strengthen their financial stability and work toward preventing future episodes of homelessness.
“There are many factors that can lead a veteran to become homeless, including economic hardship, lack of support, and life-related challenges like PTSD or substance abuse. MACV provides many services to ensure we can support and house our Veterans.” -Alisa Mendez
Alisa was drawn to this field because of her desire to support Veterans and their families. Military service has always been close to her heart, with family members who served in the National Guard, Navy, and Army. She says one of the most rewarding parts of working at MACV is seeing Veterans become housed and build a support system they can rely on.
Before joining MACV, Alisa worked in the healthcare field as a medical biller and medical claims auditor. That experience helped her build strong communication and problem-solving skills that she now uses every day while supporting Veterans through financial questions and difficult situations.
Outside of work, Alisa enjoys going on long walks with her husband and their 6-year-old husky. She also enjoys working on puzzles and building book nooks to help relieve stress in her free time. When spending time with family and friends, one of her favorite sports to play is badminton.
Alisa, we thank you for your service to our community!
