“I could not have done any of this without MACV” – Housed Air Force Veteran Dirk

Dirk spends his time taking care of others. Dirk moved to southern Minnesota when the responsibility of caring for his mother fell on him. Moving to Minnesota from out of state and finding affordable housing near his family was not simple. The challenges caused Dirk to face a laundry list of expenses that set him back and forced him to face housing insecurity until MACV stepped in with preventative measures.

MACV uses financial assistance as one of our organization’s longest-standing interventions to end or prevent Veteran homelessness. In this case, we provided stabilizing financial support to prevent Dirk from living on the streets. Dirk had a positive experience with his case manager and now encourages other Veterans who may need help to “get rid of your pride and reach out.”
