MACV Veteran Story: David

Feature Story, Housing

“MACV opened doors and gave me hope again.” -Housed Army Veteran David

With no place to call home after his extended family could no longer accommodate David, his wife, and three young children, they needed a place to live. On the verge of needing to go to a shelter, David got connected to MACV.

MACV stepped in when David needed it most, providing temporary accommodation for him and his family at a hotel. During this transitional period, David was paired with a MACV case manager who assisted him with navigating his barriers to housing and finding a permanent housing solution for him and his family. David and his family moved into a three-bedroom home in a safe neighborhood in November.

“My kids were so excited to see the house. It feels good to have a place to call home, and I don’t know where I’d be without MACV.” -Housed Army Veteran David

With the stability of a home, David can now channel his energy into being the best father he can be and focus on shaping his future. He hopes to find a better employment opportunity soon and eventually purchase a vehicle.

David’s gratitude towards MACV is immense, and he doesn’t hesitate to recommend it to his Army buddies who might be grappling with similar hardships, saying, “If you’re struggling like I was, MACV can help you.” Through MACV, David has found a home and regained his hope and optimism for the future.
