MACV Employee Spotlight – Sammy Maida
This week we are featuring Sammy Maida. Sammy is the Saint Louis County Housing Case Manager, which has him serving Veterans located all over the largest county (by land area) in Minnesota.
Sammy served over 14 years in the Minnesota and Wisconsin Air National Guard, as well as in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He also has served as a member of the USAF Honor Guard.
Sammy has multiple hobbies and interests which keep him busy, which includes restoring his 1967 Jeep CJ5 and 77 Pontiac Trans Am. Sammy recently finished writing a historical fiction novel titled Project 211. He has played the drums for most of his life and performs throughout the upper Midwest with the Centerville All Stars.
Since joining MACV, I was shocked and surprised as to just how big of a problem the Veterans homeless situation is in Minnesota. I was completely unaware of both the size and scope. While working as the St. Louis County Case Manager, the MACV team and our partners were able to tackle this problem which resulted in the eventual declaration of ending homelessness in St Louis County in April of 2022.” Sammy Maida
He stays active in his community and is a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Vets. On top of everything else, Sammy serves on the St Louis County Historical Society Board of Directors.
Sammy, we thank you for your service to our country and local community.
