MACV Employee Spotlight – Kim North
This week, we are featuring Kim North.
Kim graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with Organizational Communication and Spanish degrees. After college, she spent 5 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, gaining nonprofit communications and fundraising experience as a Communication and Outreach associate for the state’s largest homeless service provider and later as an Events Communications Coordinator at Roadrunner Food Bank. At MACV, Kim works on the Development Team and is the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator.
“Ending Veteran homelessness requires more than providing housing—it requires addressing the systemic inequities and personal challenges that lead to and perpetuate experiences of homelessness. At its core, homelessness is not merely a housing issue but a symptom of more profound societal failures like the lack of affordable housing. Homelessness often carries stigma, but those affected are not just data points in a story—they are neighbors, Veterans, families, and kids. Treating individuals with dignity, amplifying their voices is critical to driving meaningful change. ” -Kim North
Kim finds interviewing Veterans served by MACV and being trusted by them to share and write their stories to be the most rewarding part of working at MACV. She shared, “When I finish writing a story, I send it to the Veteran for their final approval, and often Veterans cry, and I think it helps them process how far they’ve come in their journey after homelessness.” Kim also enjoys crafting social media posts, writing the newsletter, working with the local media, and taking photos.
Outside work, Kim loves spending time with her family at their lake house and creating content for her dog Finn’s award-winning Instagram account. She can often be found hiking, doing CrossFit, kayaking, reading, hanging out with friends, and supporting local coffee shops.
Kim, we thank you for your service to our community!
