MACV Employee Spotlight – Jared Hendler
This week we are featuring Jared Hendler.
Jared currently serves in the Minnesota National Guard and has since 2009. He has always worked in human services or community corrections over the last 12 years. At MACV, Jared is the Training Coordinator who focuses on our MACV team internally. Previously he worked closely with MACV in the Duluth Veterans Treatment Court.
“No one chooses to be homeless. Life circumstances, mental health, substance use, trauma, emergencies, finances, and deep feelings of hopelessness get in the way. Veterans live a life of selflessness, putting the mission and others before themselves, often to their own detriment. It is sometimes hard to ask for help or feel deserving. The compassion and grace you show the Veterans in your life goes a long way.” Jared Hendler
Jared finds his work at MACV meaningful: “The work we do is already amazing, so it is really humbling working on planning, coordinating, and executing training for our team of experts.” He also shared that he is continuously impressed with the MACV team’s ability to Build strong foundations in our Minnesota communities, making lasting, sustainable change.
Outside of MACV and drilling with the MNARNG, he enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife, Frances, two children, Maxwell and Lydia, and dog, Macey. They love outdoor activities like hiking, camping, swimming, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, rollerblading, and running around playgrounds. Plus, they are actively involved in scouts, chess clubs, gymnastics, and school activities!
Jared is a part of our MACV Twin Cities Marathon Weekend. He will be running the ten miler! Click here to support him and make strides toward ending Veteran homelessness in Minnesota.
Jared, we thank you for your service to our country and our community!
