MACV VetLaw Director Elected to Board of Minnesota Council for Nonprofits!

Feature Story, Legal

MACV VetLaw Director, Sara Sommarstrom is making waves in the Minnesota nonprofit community! We are beyond thrilled to announce she has been elected as a board member of the Minnesota Council for Nonprofits (MCN). With nearly two decades invested in developing and advancing Minnesota’s nonprofit sector, this is an exciting achievement.

Sara expressed her joy at being selected: “I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits as a member of their board of directors having spent my nearly 20 year professional career within Minnesota’s nonprofit community. MCN provides education, support, and advocacy to strengthen individual nonprofit organizations as well as the nonprofit sector overall. We are so lucky to work in a state that values and promotes nonprofits and their missions and I truly believe MCN is a driving factor in what makes Minnesota’s nonprofit sector uniquely situated, and supported, in working towards a healthy, cooperative, and just society.”

MCN was founded in 1987 to meet the increasing information needs of nonprofits and to convene nonprofits to address issues facing the sector. It is the largest state association of nonprofits in the United States. Representing both Twin Cities metro and Greater Minnesota nonprofits, the new board members were elected by MCN nonprofit member organizations during a member election in October 2022 and each will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2023. MACV is proud to be a part of the MCN nonprofit community in Minnesota and we are thrilled to have Sara on the Board of Directors!
