MACV Veteran Story: James

Feature Story, Housing

“It was surprising how much my mental health improved from having a place to call home.” -Housed Marine Corps Veteran James

After losing his Mom and facing financial struggles, James spent a year living out of his car. But everything changed when he found MACV. Working with his case manager, James swiftly found affordable housing, and within a month, he got his keys!

MACV also connected James to Bridging, providing him with essential household items. Joyfully, he shared, “I now have things I never knew I could have!” Since settling into his apartment, James has been attending college, landed a managerial position, and is almost debt-free!

James highly encourages fellow Veterans needing assistance to reach out to MACV to “get the help you deserve.” Stories like James’s remind us of the profound impact a stable home has on an individual. Everyone deserves a warm and safe place to call “home.” It is clear from James’s story that connecting with MACV was one of the best decisions he had ever made. If you are an at-risk Veteran or former service member, don’t hesitate to contact us.
