MACV Employee Spotlight – AJ Brock
This week, we are featuring AJ Brock.
AJ is a U.S. Army Veteran who served as a 97E/35M Human Intelligence Collector. After six years of military service, he had many unanswered questions and felt unsure of his path. Through building his network, he found direction, and this inspired him to help other veterans avoid feeling as lost as he once did. In addition to his military experience, AJ has worked in various fields, including security, plumbing, drain excavation, as a child support officer, and even delivery services. His diverse background has equipped him with a wide range of skills, and he’s always eager to learn more. AJ also holds multiple associate degrees and a bachelor’s degree, with a major in psychology, which he says has deepened his “understanding of human behavior and drives much of the work I do today.”
At MACV, AJ serves as the Employment Program Manager, leading a dedicated elite employment team. This team is focused on assisting veterans in overcoming barriers to reentering the workforce, ensuring they can maintain housing stability and financial independence. The employment team at MACV strives to provide veterans with the training, life skills, and employer connections necessary to find meaningful and sustainable employment that benefits both them and their employers.
“Securing housing is a vital first step, but it’s just the beginning of the journey. True stability requires ongoing support to ensure long-term success and prevent future challenges. In many cases, we can always do more to help veterans maintain stability, from providing access to resources, skill-building, and employment opportunities, to offering continuous guidance and support. My focus is on creating sustainable solutions that address the root causes of instability, empowering individuals to thrive well beyond that initial step of securing housing.” -AJ Brock
AJ finds knowing that we are truly making a difference in the lives of veterans and helping them rebuild their lives to be the most rewarding aspect of MACV’s mission. Reflecting on his time following his service, he remembers what it felt like to be lost and how a guiding hand changed his path. That experience shaped who he is today. AJ explained, “Now, seeing the incredible team at MACV extending a hand to veterans and working together toward fulfilling our mission is the most fulfilling feeling in the world.” AJ also shared he feels it is a privilege to be part of something that creates such a meaningful impact.
Outside work, AJ is deeply involved in his local community’s football programs, working with all age levels from pre-K to high school, and engaging in both flag and tackle football. He serves on the board for Flag, Youth Tackle, and our high school’s Quarterback club. Beyond football, AJ is an am a passionate advocate for his girls’ wrestling team and occasionally assists with the wrestling program. In his free time, he loves riding his motorcycle and exploring new places whenever he can with his club!
AJ, we thank you for your service to our country and community!
