MACV Employee Spotlight – Sophia Gossard

Feature Story

This week, we are featuring Sophia Gossard.

Sophia came to MACV immediately after graduating from St. Olaf College. At MACV, Sophia is a Justice Involved Veterans Case Manager. She works directly with Veterans who are navigating legal barriers while living in the community. Whether that is probation requirements, pending charges, or ensuring they get to court on time, she can assist them in understanding what is needed of them. Sophia was drawn to this work because many Veterans experience justice involvement intertwined with their homelessness, which can go unnoticed. It is a significant barrier to their housing progress, so it is essential to ensure they have support while they address it.

“There is still a need for support to make progress towards the end of Veteran homelessness, and everyone can assist in their own way! Not being a Veteran yourself is not a barrier to helping this significant cause.” -Sophia Gossard

Sophia finds that getting to collaborate with her coworkers to support veterans in their time of need and seeing collaboration play out daily as veterans achieve stability is the most rewarding part of working at MACV.

Outside work, Sophia enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, trying new foods, or just outside. Sophia is running the Twin Cities Marathon on Team MACV, click here to help her reach her fundraising goal!

Sophia, we thank you for your service to our community!
