Navy Week comes to MACV!

News, Volunteers

MACV recently benefitted from the generosity of Navy service members during the Minneapolis Navy Week from September 26-October 2. Navy personnel assisted our staff with cleaning up the landscaping at one of MACV’s supportive housing properties in Minneapolis.

Navy Weeks focus a variety of outreach assets, equipment and personnel on a single city for a week-long series of engagements with key influencers and organizations representing all sectors of the market. During a Navy Week, 75-100 outreach events are coordinated with corporate, civic, government, education, media, Veterans, community service, and diversity organizations in the city.

“Senior Navy leadership, Navy bands, Navy divers, namesake ship and submarine crews, hometown Sailors, medical personnel, environmental displays, and USS Constitution Sailors and equipment all participate in the Navy Week program,” explains event organizer Cayce Carmody.

We appreciate the positive, can-do attitude of these service members and their willingness to get their hands dirty on behalf of their brothers- and sisters-in-arms. We wish the U.S. Navy a happy 246th birthday and hope to work with you again! To learn more about Navy Weeks, connect with the U.S. Navy Outreach Department website here. Let’s go, sailors!
