Ninth Annual Vets on the Lake

On Saturday, July 25, 125 Veterans from across the Twin Ports gathered for the ninth annual Vets on the Lake, an event hosted by the Western Lake Superior Trolling Association (WLSTA) in partnership with MACV and Douglas County Veteran Services.
The day began with roll call, ensuring every Veteran was accounted for before participants gathered to honor the American flag. Veterans were then paired with volunteer captains aboard 50 boats for a day of fishing on Lake Superior.
The event is made possible each year through the dedication of the Western Lake Superior Trolling Association, where MACV’s own Paul Pedersen serves as a member of the Board of Directors. His leadership, along with the support of countless volunteers and community partners, helps create an experience that brings Veterans together through the outdoors and shared connection.
After returning to shore, everyone gathered for a community fish fry, where Veterans enjoyed a meal together and reflected on the day’s experiences. This year also marked the first time Veterans from Linden Grove and Duluth Veterans Place joined the event, making the gathering even more meaningful.
Thank you to the Western Lake Superior Trolling Association, the volunteer boat captains, Douglas County Veteran Services, and everyone who helped make this year’s Vets on the Lake another memorable day for the Veterans we serve.
