MACV Intern Spotlight – Jennifer Nowlan
This week, we are featuring Jennifer Nowlan!
Jennifer has worked for Hennepin County Veterans Services since 2015 as one of two Office Specialists. She works with Veterans to help them attain resources and benefits for themselves or their family members. She is currently finishing up her last course at Metropolitan State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services-Family Studies, and she hopes to go on to the Master’s Program there in the Spring of 2025. Jennifer enjoyed her time at MACV as a programs intern!
As the MACV programs intern, Jennifer had the opportunity to shadow several MACV staff members, attend events with us, and learn more about our unique approach to ending Veteran homelessness. Jennifer found “that MACV as a whole organization comes together to help Veterans in areas of their lives to become independent and stable ” to be the most rewarding part of her time at MACV.
“There is a need to continue to address and provide services for those who have served us” –Jennifer Nowlan
Jennifer isn’t a Veteran, but she has close friends who served in the Army in Vietnam and Afghanistan. She has also found that her desire to help in the Veteran community was related to her desire to support all Veterans returning to Minnesota after serving.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys riding her motorcycle on long trips with family and friends. She also enjoys spending as much time as possible in Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin woods foraging, hunting, and taking her dogs on the trails. She likes to spend time with family and friends in her free time, sharing skills and learning from them.
Jennifer, we thank you for your service to our community!
