MACV Employee Spotlight – Reginald Larcholey

This week, we are featuring Reginald (Reggie) Larcholey.
Reggie is a US Air Force (USAF) Veteran. He started with six weeks of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB) and two weeks of heavy weapons training. He then spent two years at Spangdahlem, Germany; from there, he spent two years at High Wycombe, England, and his final duty station was Barksdale AFB, La. During his tours, Reggie had the opportunity to be part of the Honor Guard and participated in many ceremonies representing the USAF.
After his time in the USAF, Reggie faced some challenges and experienced homelessness. It was MACV that provided the much-needed support. When he went through the Grant and Per Diem (GPD) program at MACV’s Building 47, he was inspired by the assistance he received. This experience inspired him to give back. Reggie shared with Ed Williams, MACV’s GPD Program Manager, his plan to rebuild his life, pursue a degree in human services, and work for MACV to assist Veterans looking to exit homelessness. After completing the MACV GPD program, he completed a 2-year degree in Human Services at MCTC and graduated with honors. Then he completed a 2-year bachelor’s degree in human services. Today, Reggie is a MACV Sallow Subsidy Case Manager, a testament to the transformative power of MACV’s support.
“The community needs to know first Veteran homelessness does exist and there are resources available to help my fellow Veterans.” –Reggie Larcholey
Reggie finds “knowing that MACV is doing its best to end Veteran homelessness” to be the most rewarding part of his job at MACV. He says he is “doing what he is meant to be doing, helping other Vets.”
Outside of work, Reggie enjoys fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing darts, spending time with his family, and helping Veterans in the building where he lives.
Reggie, we thank you for your service to our country and our community!
