Community, Connection, and a Warm Welcome at the Robin

For our Give to the MAX day volunteer project, we hosted a celebration at the Robin that was more than a fun night in—it was a true reflection of what community looks like when people show up for one another.
Huge thanks to our volunteers and the Robbinsdale Lions for giving to the MAX and hosting such a great event. Their energy helped create an evening full of connection and belonging. Live music, rounds of bingo, and pizza donated by Broadway Pizza made the night feel inviting from the start.
We were also honored to have Robbinsdale Mayor Brad Sutton join us and call bingo throughout the evening. His presence—and the way he connected with residents—sent a clear message: Veterans living at the Robin are part of this community, and their neighbors are glad they’re here.
Support from partners like Synchrony Bank also made the night possible. Their commitment to building a welcoming environment for Veterans is felt in moments big and small, including gatherings like this that help residents feel rooted in downtown Robbinsdale.
Residents at the Robin have also felt the steady support of a high school student and Robbinsdale resident, Declan Murphy, who has been an advocate for creating a strong, welcoming transition for the new neighbors. His ongoing engagement has helped strengthen connections between the Robin and the broader community.
For many of the Veterans at the Robin, events like this matter. They create chances to meet neighbors, build relationships, and feel connected to the place they now call home. A warm meal, a few laughs, and good company may seem simple, but they’re the building blocks of true community.
We’re grateful for this neighborhood, for our partners, and for everyone who shows up for Veterans working toward long-term stability. Together, we’re creating a place where connection grows, and everyone has a chance to feel at home.
