Arlington House
In the heart of St. Paul lies Arlington House, a property now owned by MACV, thanks to the generosity of another homeless service nonprofit. The acquisition happened in September 2022, and since then, the building has been subject to robust renovations to transform it into dignified housing for Veterans rebuilding their lives in Ramsey County.
Arlington House, now under the ownership of MACV, is not just a property with 11 housing units, including 10 single-dwelling units, five of which are accessible. It’s a vibrant community, a place where veterans can find not just a home, but also a sense of belonging and unity.
One of Arlington House’s most exciting features is its Mikulay Resource Center. Located within the property, this center is designed with veterans’ needs in mind. It includes a computer lab, a recreation room, and a pool table. Imagine the sense of community and camaraderie these shared spaces will foster among the residents. Above the community center is a large apartment specifically for a Veteran family, further emphasizing MACV’s holistic approach to catering to Veterans’ unique needs.
Arlington House’s transformation was only possible with the skilled work of apprentices from Carpenters Local Union 322 and Veterans from the Helmets to Hardhats program. Their hard work and dedication have turned a once-ordinary property into a dignified home for Veterans. Click here to watch a video about the property. Support from organizations like West Edge Investments, Renewal by Andersen, the Leonard J. Mikulay Foundation, and countless others also played a crucial role in this transformation.
Arlington House is more than just a building; it’s a lifeline for Veterans exiting homelessness. From its strategic location and expertly curated amenities to the incredible community support that made it all possible, Arlington House represents a new beginning for veterans facing significant barriers to traditional housing. By offering a stable, supportive environment, MACV is helping veterans rebuild their lives, one step at a time.
