Affordable housing for Veterans living in Northern Minnesota
“While the Continuum of Care that includes St. Cloud has declared an effective end to Veteran homelessness, the work doesn’t end there. With increased efforts towards outreach, new Veterans are often engaged who need services.” -Sara Riegle, Vice President of Property Operations
With support from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, We’re thrilled to announce the opening of an eight-unit apartment building in St. Cloud, Minnesota. This new building is located centrally, near downtown and the university campus, providing affordable housing for Veterans who need it most. “The proximity of MACV” s newest property in St. Cloud to VA Healthcare and treatment means that it is ideally placed to provide safe and affordable housing to Veterans who need a dignified place to call home, shared Riegle.
But that’s not all – we’re also making waves in Duluth! Our Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) provide compact homes on MACV-owned properties, offering additional housing for Veterans in need. Thanks to Duluth’s ADU ordinance, we can add smaller dwellings to existing properties, enabling us to house even more Veterans. These one-bedroom homes are another way MACV provides housing to Veterans living in northern Minnesota.
“Our innovative work with ADUs has been instrumental in creating affordable housing for Veterans across the state, especially in Duluth,” said Kevin Beichler, North Regional Director. “We’re excited to continue pushing forward and finding new ways to support our Veteran community.”
At MACV, we are committed to supporting and stabilizing Veterans experiencing homelessness in Minnesota. We will continue to strive towards providing dignified housing and invaluable services so every Veteran living in Minnesota has a place they can call home. Thank you for being part of this journey; together, we can ensure all Veterans have the safe and secure housing they deserve.
