January 1992 MACV established with financial support from VFW post. Provided housing for four homeless veterans.

July 1993 Building 47 Program began at Minneapolis VAMC for 13 homeless veterans.

November 1993 Started transitional housing program with VA regional houses with 26 beds.

April 1998 First Greater Minnesota outreach office opens in Duluth.

March 2000 Second Greater Minnesota outreach office opens in Mankato.

April 2000 Received first Federal Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program grant from the US Department of Labor VETS.

February 2002 MACV purchase of nine homes, formerly leased from the VA, in support of our Structured Independent Living (SIL) transitional housing program in the Metro Area.

November 2002 National Coalition for the Homeless and the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless awarded MACV the 2002 Bruce Vento Distinguished Service Award.

July 2003 MACV recognized with Outstanding Member Award by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.

November 2004 MACV featured in national VFW magazine for its leadership, advocacy and work on behalf of homeless veterans.

June 2006 Grand Opening of our Radichel Townhome Program; 11-Units of permanent housing with supportive services for disabled veterans on Lake Dorothy in Mankato.

August 2006 First annual MACV sponsored Metro StandDown held at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

November 2007 New Housing Initiative planning begins in Duluth for Duluth Veterans’ Place – transitional and permanent housing units for veterans to co-locate with MACV Duluth office.

June 2008 MACV chosen as statewide VFW Commander’s Project.

May 2009 Governor’s Council on Faith and Community Service Initiatives presents Best Practices Award to MACV.

November 2009 Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary’s Award Recipient for Outstanding Achievement in Service to Homeless Veterans
