CHAIR
Don Allen, Tyler (TX)
Originally from Texas, retired Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Don Allen served 22 years with time spent in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, El Salvador, the Middle East, Central America and Africa among other locations. Don received his BA from Columbia University and a dual Masters from Webster in Business Administration and Criminal Justice. He served as the Police Chief of Mayesville, South Carolina for four years and as adjunct professor for Billings Business College for 2 years. He is the Chief Operating Officer and owner of American Veteran’s Traveling Tribute, Inc. (AVTT). Don is married to Barbara, a 1986 Graduate of the Air Force Academy and a Family Practice Physician for the Trinity Mother Francis Medical System. They have two daughters together. Don and his family currently live in Tyler, Texas.
VICE CHAIR
Doug Jones, Waseca
Doug Jones served in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973 and left with honorable discharge. He has been married to his wife Lela since 1981 and together they have 2 grown married children and 5 grandchildren. I have been involved with the printing industry since 1970 in various capacities from pressman, supervisor, teacher, small business owner and sales. I became interested in MACV when my youngest stepson was deployed to Iraq; I thought I should “get involved.” It is with extreme pride that I continue to work and volunteer for MACV’s cause.

Ellen Saboe, Seattle (WA)
Ellen enlisted in the US Navy and retired as a CDR (Select) after 14 years of active duty and eight years in the reserves as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Tech, Deep Sea Diver, and Naval Parachutist. She holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BA from the University of Washington. In her civilian career, Ellen is a partner at Starbucks Coffee Company in their global procurement department.She and her husband Phil have one daughter and two dogs.
TREASURER
Richard Ballintine, Bloomington
Richard G. Ballintine has served as CFO for Rosemount Inc., Goodrich Aerospace, and CyberOptics Corp., all high-technology manufacturing companies in the Minneapolis area ranging in size from $60M to $750M in revenue. In his 30 years in financial management, he has been responsible for financial reporting, treasury functions, strategic analysis/planning, and information systems. He has served on the faculty of the University of St. Thomas. Prior to his business career, he served in the USAF for five years as a Program Manager of a $75M ground support equipment program. Upon separation from active duty, he joined the Reserves where he enjoyed several promotions and job assignments. He retired from the Reserves in 1993 as Colonel, Commander of the Minneapolis Detachment of the Aeronautical Systems Division. Richard received a BS in Physics and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. He has attended numerous seminars and conferences on a wide variety of business topics. Currently semi-retired, he has his own consulting firm and is serving in various volunteer capacities with a number of local non-profit organizations.

Jill Lawrence, New Hope
Volunteering for veterans has been a part of Jill Lawrence’s life for as long as she can remember. She has been an active member of the Minneapolis Elk’s Lodge #44 for over 11 years, been involved with the VA Medical Center for 9 years and served as the appointed Metro District Chairman for the Minnesota National Veterans Service Committee for 9 years. She is the first woman in Minnesota to hold several Chairmen titles and is responsible for bringing to the Minnesota Elks organization programs that involve benefits to veterans and their families. Jill has received numerous Elk awards on the metro, state and national levels. She currently works for the 133rd ANG Airlift Wing at Fort Snelling in St. Paul as a Wing Family Program Coordinator
Dan MCarvel, Shakopee
Dan McCarvel is currently a Vice President with Venture Bank in Eagan, Minnesota. Prior to working at Venture Bank, he spent several years employed at Associated Bank. A life-long Minnesotan, Dan currently resides in Shakopee with his wife and two children.
J.P. Pawluk, Golden Valley
J.P. (Jon) Pawluk is a retired Army Reserve Major and a Desert Storm veteran. In addition to serving on the MACV board, J.P. is the Chairman of the Golden Valley Environmental Commission, a member of the Ridgedale YMCA Community Board, and a member of the Property and Facilities Committee of the YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis. J.P. is Vice President of Facilities Management for TCF Bank.
Cary Sparrow, Minneapolis
Cary Sparrow is a former Lieutenant, submarines, United States Navy. He currently is a Vice President with Cargill, Inc., and was previously a practice leader at the global consulting firm Towers Perrin.
