Don Allen

CHAIR
Don Allen, Tyler, TX
Originally from Texas, retired Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Don Allen served 22 years with time spent in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, El Salvador, the Middle East, Central America and Africa among other locations. Don received his BA from Columbia University and a dual Masters from Webster in Business Administration and Criminal Justice. He served as the Police Chief of Mayesville, South Carolina for four years and as adjunct professor for Billings Business College for two years. He is the owner of American Veteran’s Traveling Tribute, Inc. (AVTT). Don is married to Barbara, a 1986 Graduate of the Air Force Academy and Chief Medical Officer for JSA Healthcare Corporation. They have one daughter who is attending Montana State University. Don and his family currently live in Tyler, Texas.

VICE CHAIR
Steve Schemenauer, Woodbury, MN 

Steve Schemenauer has served in the U.S. Army for more than 23 years. Currently a Colonel, he is the Director of Intelligence for the Joint Force Headquarters, Minnesota National Guard.  Colonel Schemenauer is a graduate of the US Army War College prestigious National Security Fellowship at Tufts University.  He is also a two-time combat veteran, having served in Afghanistan in 2004 and Iraq in 2009. During those tours, Steve earned two Bronze Stars, a Combat Infantryman’s Badge and an Army Commendation Medal.

Steve received his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Steve is a Partner at Stinson Leonard Street, where he practices in both State and Federal Court throughout the country.  His diverse litigation practice includes business and commercial law, employment law, real estate and construction, and products liability law. In addition to serving on the MACV Board of Directors, Steve devotes significant time to pro bono activities through the Deinard Legal Clinic, the Volunteer Lawyer’s Network, the Hennepin County ADR program, and the State Public Defender’s Office.

Ellen SaboeSECRETARY
Ellen Saboe, Seattle, WA
Ellen enlisted in the US Navy and retired as a CDR (Select) after 14 years of active duty and eight years in the reserves as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Tech, Deep Sea Diver, and Naval Parachutist. She holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BA from the University of Washington. In her civilian career, Ellen is a partner at Starbucks Coffee Company located at the Kent Flexible Plant and is a member of the Starbuck's Armed Forces Network. She and her husband Phil have two daughters and two dogs.

Dan McCarvel
Shakopee, MN
Dan McCarvel is currently a Vice President with Venture Bank in Eagan, Minnesota. Prior to working at Venture Bank, he spent several years employed at Associated Bank. A life-long Minnesotan, Dan currently resides in Shakopee with his wife and two children.

JP PawlukJ.P. Pawluk, Golden Valley, MN
J.P. (Jon) Pawluk is a retired Army Reserve Major and a Desert Storm veteran. In addition to serving on the MACV board, J.P. is the Chairman of the Golden Valley Environmental Commission, a member of the Ridgedale YMCA Community Board, and a member of the Property and Facilities Committee of the YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis. J.P. is Vice President of Facilities Management for TCF Bank.

KC Pfluger

KC Pfluger, Woodbury, MN
K.C. Pfluger originally from Indianapolis (IN) went to college in Annapolis (USNA) and married his wife Suzy from Minneapolis. He currently serves in the Marine Corps Reserves. He has spent 24 years in the Corps and served as an Infantry officer, Recruiting Station operations officer, Marine Liaison to the Naval Research Lab, Detachment CO and Training officer for the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment as well as his current position as the Marine for Life Network Representative for Minnesota and the upper Midwest.

He and Suzy with their three kids live in Woodbury where he coaches youth sports in hockey, soccer and baseball. He owns his own business developing and sourcing advanced and emerging technologies for the government and industry.

Cary Sparrow

Cary Sparrow, Minneapolis, MN
Cary Sparrow is a former Lieutenant, submarines, United States Navy.  He was a Vice President with Cargill, Inc., and was previously a practice leader at the global consulting firm Towers Perrin.

 

Bert Westerman

Bert Westerman, Eagan, MN
Bert Westerman served four years in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner and is a veteran of the Iraq War. Bert earned his B.S. in Construction Management from Minnesota State, Mankato and is the COO and Partner at Gardner Builders in Minneapolis. Bert lives in Eagan with his wife, Naomi, and their three children.
